Heacham North Beach

Approximately 2 miles from Heacham Manor

Heacham North Beach is one of the closest places to enjoy a seaside walk with your dog. Dogs are welcome throughout the year, while the adjoining promenade and flood defence bank provide an alternative route when you would prefer to keep sandy paws to a minimum.

At low tide, the beach opens into a broad expanse of sand and shingle, with plenty of room for a longer walk towards Hunstanton. Its west-facing position also makes this a particularly lovely place to watch the sun set across The Wash.

Heacham South Beach

Approximately 3 miles from Heacham Manor

Quieter and more natural than North Beach, Heacham South Beach is backed by dunes and offers beautiful views along the West Norfolk coastline.

Dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a lead from 1 April to 31 August to protect vulnerable ground-nesting birds. Please follow the signs, remain clear of fenced nesting areas and keep your dog under close control around wildlife.

The beach is especially enjoyable outside the peak summer season, when you can wrap up for a peaceful walk before returning to the warmth and comfort of Heacham Manor.

Hunstanton Beach

Approximately 4 miles from Heacham Manor

Hunstanton combines a traditional seaside atmosphere with long coastal walks and views of its famous striped cliffs.

Dogs are excluded from a designated section of the beach between 10 April and 31 October. However, dogs on leads can still enjoy permitted sections of the promenade, and the restricted area is only a relatively small part of the wider Hunstanton coastline.

Old Hunstanton Beach

Old Hunstanton is one of our top recommendations for a dog-friendly beach day in Norfolk. Dogs are welcome throughout the year, and at low tide the beach offers an impressive stretch of sand for walking, playing and exploring.

The striking red-and-white cliffs provide a distinctive backdrop, while the beach generally feels quieter and more relaxed than central Hunstanton. There are places nearby to stop for refreshments, making it easy to turn your walk into a leisurely afternoon by the coast.

Holme Beach and Holme Dunes

Approximately 7 miles from Heacham Manor

Holme-next-the-Sea offers a wonderfully wild section of the Norfolk coast, with sand, dunes, saltmarsh and far-reaching views.

Part of the surrounding landscape is protected by Norfolk Wildlife Trust, so dogs must be kept on a short lead within Holme Dunes Nature Reserve.
