Celebrate Father’s Day in Norfolk

Dad, daddy, papa, pops… whatever you call him, Father’s Day on 15 June is the moment to thank the OG man in your life, and a stay at Heacham Manor is the perfect way to celebrate together. There’s tons to see and do in North Norfolk, so use our Father’s Day guide to plan a fantastic weekend to let him know he’s still your #1 guy!

For dapper dads…

If he’s a dedicated follower of fashion, enjoy a little retail therapy and check out some of Norfolk’s stylish labels during your stay. Burnham Market’s Gun Hill Clothing Company is an emporium of premium brands including its own quality clothing range. And for the finest of footwear, head to Fairfax & Favor in Holt, a burgeoning luxury Norfolk brand – check out its fab range of accessories for gift inspiration. If his tastes are traditional, Carrier Company is a Norfolk small-scale clothing manufacturer whose British-made workwear and outdoor clothing is inspired by enduring classic styles. Switch up his Old Spice with some of Captain Fawcett’s gentlemen’s grooming products, a Norfolk brand whose King’s Lynn HQ is a fascinating barbershop museum that’s well worth a visit (be sure to book in advance).

For gourmet guys…

We’ve yet to meet the man (or woman!) who does’t love good food and drink, and Norfolk is a gourmet grub hub with plenty of artisan producers to take home with you. Within walking distance of Heacham Manor, the Norfolk Lavender Farm Shop stocks local meat, including venison from the Sandringham Estate and pork from South Creake, cheeses, chutneys, oils and jams. Or head to award winning Norfolk Deli in neighbouring Hunstanton which stocks an incredible array of Norfolk food and drink at its yellow-fronted store. Treat dad to one of its Father’s Day Hampers which feature several local craft brewers.

A tour of a local brewery and distillery may also be just the ticket for a memorable Father’s Day gift. Barsham Brewery near Fakenham runs tours on Friday afternoons with the opportunity to follow the production line from grain to glass, plus a chance to sample several of its brews in the taproom. Or pop along to Whin Hill Norfolk Cider in Wells-next-the-Sea, which crafts cider, perry and apple juice from its Norfolk orchard. If gin’s his thing, visit the WhataHoot distillery in King’s Lynn, which offers tours and the opportunity to try your hand at making your own spirits, or Black Shuck near Fakenham.

Of course, he’ll want to enjoy a bite and a pint while you’re here, and we’ve got just the ticket with our Father’s Day Sunday Lunch – enjoy Sunday lunch in The Mulberry Restaurant or our carvery in The Pavilion and we’ll throw in a free dessert for dad! There’ll also be live music on the No 82 Terrace that evening, the perfect spot for a pre- or post-dinner tipple.

For all-action heroes

If he loves the great outdoors, you’ve come to the right place! From an invigorating walk along the 84-mile Norfolk Coast Path to a spot of sea fishing from Wells Harbour with Off The Hook, there are plenty of fantastic activities to try together. A paddleboarding experience with North Norfolk Paddleboards, which operates from Burnham Overy Staithe, is an incredible way to explore the creeks, or book a court at Norfolk Padel and try your hand at the world’s fastest-growing sport!

For keen golfers, Heacham Manor’s Stay and Play breaks are the perfect Father’s Day gift with time on our award winning 18-hole American-style Links course. And if you’re not a golfer, our Wellness Centre is the perfect place to relax and unwind while he plays the green – a real win-win!

For class acts

Slow the pace with a great day out and make magical memories with dad. Let the train take the strain with the Bure Valley Railway’s Dad Goes Free Weekend when pops travels free with a full fare-paying adult, or pop into the Muckleburgh Museum, one of the world’s largest privately owned military collections where you can even treat him to an awesome tank driving experience! And don’t miss a stop at Langham Dome, a fascinating military museum housed in a former RAF training dome.

Norfolk’s grand estates are superb spots to spend a relaxing day together and this year Houghton continues its series of annual art exhibitions with an installation by acclaimed British sculptor Stephen Cox presented across the park, gardens and interiors of Houghton Hall. Meanwhile Sandringham’s Royal Signatures Through The Years exhibition celebrates the relationship between the royal family and Royal Horticultural Society, plus the Hilgay All Stars Swing Band will be playing live music in the park on Father’s Day.

Whatever he loves, Norfolk has plenty to make a truly unforgettable Father’s Day. Forget the socks, ditch the chocs, book a stay at Heacham Manor and let the family fun begin!
